Israel Capital Punishment During Romans Period
In Deuteronomy 13:1-10 , capital punishment is executed by Israel on false prophets. This is one of the reasons why the religious leaders want to kill Jesus. Jesus performed miracles and claimed divine authority, but His opponents argued that He was misleading Israel—especially when He reinterpreted the Law (e.g., Sabbath, divorce, purity). To them, this looked like a violation of the Torah’s command to reject a prophet who contradicted God’s word.
